Attendance Policy

Attendance Policy

Cheerleading is a team sport and attendance is important to meet key safety components of the sport. A cheerleader's absence from a practice or game negatively affects the team's ability to practice safely and inhibits the team from being able to perform their cheers, stunts or routines in an optimal fashion.

The August practice sessions are crucial for teaching the building blocks of cheerleading, especially stunting, so that all teams follow the widely recognized progression of skills needed to perform stunts safely.

In order to fully participate, attendance at the August practices is required. Instruction in cheerleading is progressive and missing practices can result in a cheerleader missing important stunting instruction. Consistent attendance leads to better technique and a reduced risk of injury. If a cheerleader misses  more than one practice her participation in stunting will be at the coaches’ discretion.

Stunting instruction/evaluation will take place during the first week of practice in August. Stunt group positions will be available to cheerleaders who will not miss more than ONE of the August practices. Stunt group positions will be assigned during preseason practices in August.

Cheerleaders who miss more than 1 of the preseason practices may be given an "alternate position" in a stunt group, this is at the coaches discretion.

The only excused absences are for religious holiday observance or illness with a doctor's note.

GAMES ARE MANDATORY! ABSOLUTELY NO MISSES WILL BE ALLOWED! (Religious classes, DIF, or illness with a doctor's note will be the only misses accepted)

JTRCA cheerleaders cheer for the Jefferson Youth Football games in the fall. Games are usually played on Saturdays, as soon as football releases the schedule we will send it out to you. Make up games may be played during the week, but these games will not be mandatory for cheerleaders.

Games are within jefferson Township and surrounding towns. Directions to all fields (home and away) will be posted on MCYFL website. All games will be played, rain or shine, hot or cold. Should conditions exist that are possibly harmful for the cheerleader, then you will be notified as soon as possible of the game cancellation.

Thank you,

JTRCA
